We Don't Bake
We Don’t Bake
It’s not a declaration, it’s a way of thinking. Derived from a commercial of a couple who received a Kitchen Aid as a wedding gift. The commercial starts with footage of a day in the life of a successful cupcake enterprise and ends with the beginning of the journey; the couple opening their wedding gifts. The husband looks at the mixer and states, “We don’t bake.” Their unexpected gift turned out to be so much more than they ever imagined. God works that way.
We were given a gift. Well, we were given a lot of gifts, but Ichthus VerseWear was given to us so we could use our gifts to serve Him. Imagine being given something so beautiful, looking at it and saying, “But we don’t bake.” We don’t. But He does.
The Five Tenets Of Baking
1) We'll never know all there is to know about baking. Proverbs 3:6
This will always be true. We approach everything with an open mind, first understanding there is still more to know.
2) We keep our eyes on our own cupcakes. Colossians 3:23
We strive to do everything with excellence as a way of life. We perform for an audience of One. It is a waste of time to impress anyone else.
3) If you wouldn’t eat your own cupcakes... Mark 12:30-31
That means we treat one another with the same dignity and respect we’d want someone else to treat us with. Differences of opinion and approach happen, but it shouldn’t change how we love one another. We are a community working together.
4) There is no sense frosting a bad cupcake. Proverbs 27:5-6
Not everything we do will turn out the way we hoped it would. We call it what it is and move on. Accountability is about being honest; with ourselves and others. It’s okay to say, “It’s not good.”
5) We find joy in the process of baking. John 10:10
Gratitude is the key to life. If we are too busy counting our blessings we won’t have time to complain. We live our purpose for His good purposes every day.
